Hello Twenty Twelve!

Revved up for an exciting year! You can expect quite a few new releases — David Newberry “No One Will Remember You”, debut from Hello Polly “All Messed Up”, as well as releases from Spoon River, Herald Nix and the Pointed Sticks.

Plus! Victoria’s Budokan has joined the Northern Electric fold with their debut “Spin A Little Gold” to be released in late March on gold vinyl! Look for upcoming show announcements in Vancouver and Victoria.

Have you seen “Bloodied But Unbowed” yet? For those unfamiliar this is an amazing rock doc celebrating our rich local music scene of 1978 – 81. It’s playing regularly on Super Channel this month and Beat Route Magazine is presenting a screening tonight (8pm) at the Astoria with a Rock Show to follow featuring Hello Polly, as well as the Jolts and the B-Lines. Should be a whole lot of fun.

The new BC Musician Magazine is also out and features our beautiful ad on its back cover (seen here).  We proudly contribute the cover art each issue. It’s been great to see this publication grow and evolve over the past few years as a voice for BC musicians from BC musicians and artists. Regular contributors include Geoff Berner, Carolyn Mark and Linda McRae.

Rattle Shook!

Well, that was fun! Thanks so much to all the great bands, venues and friends that were part of this year’s extravaganza.

Above photo (by Corinne Kuan) of Hello Polly from kick-off show at LanaLou’s that also featured the fabulous Furniture and Mr. David Newberry and friends giving a sneak preview from upcoming 2012 album. Then it was off to Iron Road Studios for some surf n’ turf with The Modelos followed by The Deadcats (featuring Kermit’s killer drum solo!) and finally Howard Rix and his Lucky Stars who rocked the house down to the ground in the wee hours of the night.

At it again the next night starting with the psychedelic sounds of The Strange Magic, followed by Victoria’s brilliant Budokan, who turned a lot of heads and ears – then the Psst! surprise guests, the Pointed Sticks!  They played an amazing set chock full of surprises to a giddy packed house. And this is only the half-way point! The Sticks were followed by a kick-ass blitz from The Liquor Kings and capped by a shirtless DB Buxton ripping it up solo (the loudest act of the weekend). Wow!
